Thanks for the info. So the best thing to do when I get the car is to charge it up and see what kind of readings I can get. If its not getting the output I'm hoping for (ie enough to get me a decent range so I can use it every day) I can take it to someone hopefully and if its not too far gone have it balanced and replace or remove bad cells?

On the scale from 1 to 10 ... that would be option number 10 fastest , least thorough ... fully charge it... and do a test run to see what you can get from the whole battery pack as on complete unit.

Exactly as you said... if you are happy with it as is... your done... if you think it will need work to meet your needs ... either take it someplace , to someone, or get ready to roll up your sleeves yourself.

Keep in mind servicing an existing battery pack can only do so much ... if the performance from a fully charged battery pack is too low... it might not come back enough to meet your needs.

Also ... if it turns out the pack is too far gone to meet your needs ... let me know before you send it off for recycling ... I might like to experiment / tinker with it for fun... but ideally it will be good enough as is for your needs.

Thank you most kindly for the welcome ecoadmin, sincere apologies for the delayed response, I have just returned from vacation, and having seen that there were responses via my email,, I decided this first thing on my agenda would be to come and reply to them.

I am definitely going to look into the logistics of obtaining a descent Twike, I just wish they were'nt so damned expensive is all, mind you the same can be said about all these new electric cars and/or other vehicles.

It strikes me as kinda counter-productive having built a new car that can save you a small fortune in gas, only to cost you an even bigger one to get in the first place. Seems that as per bloody usual the rich get first crack at anything new. Now if someone could or even WOULD build a new car that saves you bundles at the gas pump, AND that the "financially challenged" can afford too. THEN we would have a world beater.

Come on you geniuses, or should that be genii ?. You've got the basics done for you by your contemporaries, now come up with a car that Joe Public can afford, instead of Mr Moneybags as usual. Oh n while you're at it find the cure for Cancer, the solution to the eternal fight between man and woman and solve the worlds conflicts as well. Wellllll I figured that if you can do the first one, the rest of 'em would be childs play. ROFLMAO Seriously though folks if SOMEONE could come up with a reliable AFFORDABLE electric HIGHWAY vehicle that person would be well on the way to being an overnight millionaire, well maybe not overnight, but certainly overweek.

I shall be looking with great anticipation for future developments.

Just accept reality.
Many people have worked hard for decades to get the combustion-cars to the point where they are today.
It will take a lot of time and money (and many sold units to pay for this...) to get electric mobility to that point.
And don't forget, regular cars are today so cheap, because they have as much power as you like, and mass does not matter.
A good electric car is more than a regular car with electric motor and batteries...
Today i read an article about the Volt (ähm the german version, the Ampera...). 1800 kg weight...
Don't think, that such a "tank" will ever be an affortable transportation-solution, if energy prices rise....

And the concepts that go into the right direction are not realy making progress.
Loremo ->dead
Aptera -> ???
Twike ->still "dammned" expensive, and no sight of a change...
CityEl -> still quite expensive and small...

Don't dream of the big change, this was promised to us since decades and never happend.
And the only rapid change might come with very expensive oil, but then transportation is only a secondary problem, because heating and food production and transportation are oil-dependend...

Just thought I would add a bit of detail I think was missed before.

Although ideally if you need to get into testing the battery pack you would do it yourself ... I understand that not everyone is that type of DIY person , especially with high voltage batteries.

2nd option would be your fellow Twike and EV community in the area ... maybe some of them are that type of DIY High Voltage type person.

3rd option is to just pay a company to do the testing for you... On the East Coast I know of Hybrid-Battery-Repair.com ... but I do not know of a similar company on the west coast... I imagine as there are more and more hybrids , PHEVs, and EVs on the road this type of service will become more and more common.
