I am sure the woman whose daughter was killed in a head-on collision with a drunk idiot, who was driving in a wrong direction would have a different opinion. She was a perfect driver with no point on her licence... still, she got killed... But I see what you mean. Unfortunately, there are drunkards and hash-heads driving around... so, maybe that's the first step we need to take towards traffic safety? Tougher penalties for drink-driving?

a little polemic, not rational... of course we should first change our road. if a tire burst on a truck at the wrong time passing you, you are dead,no matter what you drive. Only a massive wall between the lanes could help you there. Additional we need cars that do not start with a drunken driver... And cars, that detect the driver taking an nap, and... and... and....
There is so much we could do, but to be honest, society decided that these things are to expensive.
These things are sad, but they are no reason to drive a tank because this might happen. We need a realistic calculation of dangers, and the chance to get hit by another car this way is just very small.

Several crashes are reported, with heavy damage to the vehicles, but nothing very serious happend to the drivers.

This is very interesting. Is there any chance you have a link or more details about this study? I can read German, I'm just not too much of a talker icon_redface.gif

It is a personal study. Lightweight-vehicle-drivers (small comunity...) have their forums they comunicate in, and i am reading quite a lot there...
No scientific data, just a lot of little pieces of information collected in my brain...

Of course, many cause contribute to this astonishing fact (of course there might be an accident i do not know...).
Usualy lightweight-Vehicles go at reduces speed.
The drivers take more care, because driving an EV (all the lightweights i know are EV's) is usualy not as easy as driving an regualar car.
Usualy these vehicles are smaller, there is more room on the road to avoid an accident (happend personaly to me that someeone took my lane, but there was still room for my 80 cm, with a car there would not have been enought space...)
EV's usualy do not have as much miles as a often used car, they are mostly used in short oder medium range ways. People who realy "eat" miles need a fuelburner...
These vehicles are very uncommon, this helps sometimes not to be overseen...
