Do I need a motorcycle licence to drive an Aptera?

From the Aptera website:

Any vehicle with three wheels in the state of California does not require a motorcycle licence, nor is an endorsement necessary on your licence. Because its an enclosed 3-wheeler, also helmets are not required.

I heard it's similar to the sparrow , nmg 3 wheeler. It's registered as a motor cycle but since it has 3 wheels and is stable you only need a regular drivers license.
