Please remember never to charge during the peak time of day. It could cause brown outs or blackouts.
Every little watt counts.

If we all moved our power use off peak it could reduce pollution and peak demand on tarnsmission lines and transformers. We all have to work together to help the power companies. It helps all of us.

Good point jstack, can you please tell me what a brown out is? Is this sort of a 'very short blackout'?

Is California (or the US in general) expecting again some blackouts this summer?

Cheers, Stefan

Stefan,

In the US we call it a brown out if the power drops low. This can cause TV and computer screens to shirk or blank out as well as cause other appliances and equipment to run slower. banghead.gif
A black out is a total power loss for a few minutes to hours or days. If we all move any use to off peak hours it helps our power companies reduce cost. It prevents high power loads on transmission lines and transformers.

We all have to work together. It's a global world and we can all reduce costs and pollution by being aware of the entire system.

There is lots of excess power at off peak times. In the US they calculated we could charge 80% of our vehicles at night with almost no problems. In fact we could then use that stored power to help the grid during the peak day time houir or 2 that are critical. icon_cool.gif
