In most of the fiction films aliens are coming to earth and fights against us to take over the planet why? The main reason for that if something like that happens is because its their need to search for a hospitable planet . The green planet is an ideal place for life forms to exist. So one day life one earth itself total up the earth by using all the resources and become like aliens to wander over the universe. What are your views? Ethan www.greenilo.com Ideas for Green Earth |

The level of technology required in order for a species / society to be able to travel across the vast distances of space and survive like that for any length of time... means that 'earth' like planets are irrelevant. Everything that would be needed or wanted could be synthetically made at that point from base components... it would also almost require the successful utilization of fusion power reactors. ... its Utopia (will not happen) ... Just as a matter of the needed energy to take us to the next planet within a timespan the inhabitants of the spaceship survive is by far beyond our means. And even in case we could harness this energy supply - it is then likely to be nuclear. then it means we need to get a proper shielding up to protect the people on board. That is in addition to the shielding to protect from the other stuff between the galaxies ... Utopia. |

I agree Utopia will not happen ... we would still have social problems even if we solved the technical ones. As for the life times of the crew... I was thinking more like a fully self contained society ... a generation ship or ships ... not the life time of one person ... but ship or ships that carry enough people in order to sustain a society ... which is a very large investment of resources to say the least. I do agree such a system would ultimately have to be powered by nuclear means ... but fission would not cut it ... there just isn't enough energy per unit mass ... we would have to use fusion reactors in order to have the energy density needed to remain powered long enough to travel across the extremely vast distances of space between solar systems and eventually between galaxies. Such a generation space fairing society would probably send out scout and harvest type smaller ships to collect resources like more hydrogen and other basic component resources. The way I see it ... Human's as a species have only two basic options. Die with this birth planet in a few billion years ... if we last that long ... or we will have reached that point and left the cradle of earth behind. RE & Efficiency enthusiast
