Hi folks, My name is Mike. I am based in the UK and have been using electric cars for my daily transport for the past four years: I have a G-Wiz which I use for commuting too and from work, and more recently got a Mitsubishi iMiEV which is our main family car. I also run the Reva Electric Car Club and am currently writing a new book on electric cars. I've been 'lurking' at this site for a while but not posted anything until now. I thought it was time I at least introduced myself Author of the book 'Owning an Electric Car' - http://www.OwningElectricCar.com

Hello Mike, Welcome to our forums. Its great to have you on board First of all congratulations to your iMiEV! I hope it will serve you well. I just visited the clubs website and its amazing how successful the G-Wiz is in the UK. We are of course curious what the book will be like in the end, please keep us posted. Again, welcome to the Green Car Network. I hope you have a good time here. Stefan |

Thanks for the welcome. The G-Wiz is a very popular car in London, where over 1,000 cars have been sold. Sales outside London are much smaller as the importer prefers to concentrate on the London region. In the centre of London, the G-Wiz is a very common sight. Thanks to its popularity, millions of Londoners have witnessed first hand that electric cars can be a practical and useful form of transport. The authorities have responded by offering free parking in many parts of the capital and installing free electric car charging points. Furthermore, there has recently been an announcement that a further 20,000 charging points will be installed in and around London in the next few years. With regards to the i-MiEV, we have the car on a one year test from Mitsubishi. The car is already on general sale in Japan and goes on general sale in the UK during 2010. Sales in other parts of Europe start at the end of this year. It is a very accomplished car: its big enough and comfortable enough to take our family of four. Performance is remarkable - the 0-100km dash is five seconds faster than the petrol version and the top speed is 131km/h. Since getting the i-MiEV, it has completely replaced our petrol car. As far as the book is concerned, it is called 'Owning an Electric Car' and it'll be available next month - I'm not entirely sure of the date yet. The book is currently going through the final proof-reading stage. As soon as I know when it will be available, I'll let you know - although I don't want to get into trouble for promoting my book!
