... might be correct that the US electricity is in only 2% originating from oil - but - the biggest portion is produced by burning coal, with a much higher specific CO2 emission ...

It IS correct the the US fuel guzzlers are obsolete technology, but when replacing 2 ton of fuel drinking cr with a 2 ton electric car there is not much gained at the moment. There is still the efficeny problem in electricity production, transport and storage.

We (the world) have other places to get more sustainable:

1. rethink the mobility needs
2. stop not needed consumption
3. eat less meat, stop wasting food
4. walk for distances less than a km
5. cycle distance up to 5.. km
6. for longer distance use a efficent vehicle (train, bus, efficent car)

There is no need to move 2 tons to carry a payload (one person mostly) of 100kgs
