Dear forum users, Negotiations on how to reduce CO2 emissions are ongoing and in their final stages in Cancun, Mexico. It is expected that a major breakthrough in the subject will not be achieved. The interests of many of the participant are too far appart to agree on a common goal. Many say, climate summit negations are doomed. Would you agree or are we on our way to make things better but more time is needed to reach a goal? In my opinion we are on a long journey of improvement but it is very questionable if we are able to act fast enough. As long as half of the population of this planet still doesn't want to change, a breakthrough at the negotiations table is unlikely. I've seen names on the list of participants in Cancun which are environmental ministers and delegates of their country, but definitely the sort of people which will put personal interests before public or environmental interests. But even if a country would send an army of green activists to Cancun, ths army would still have to be backed up in their home country to make a change happen. What are your thoughts about Cancun and Climate Summits in general? Twike 890
