California's Governor Schwarzenegger will announce today that Tesla Motors will be building a manufacturing plant for its next car, a sedan projected at $60,000, in the "Bay Area" close to San Francisco. Formerly code-named "Whitestar", the Model S will be a 5-passenger sedan, and plans are to offer it in two versions: As a plug-in serial hybrid (or "range-extended electric vehicle"), and as a BEV, or battery-powered electric vehicle, like the Tesla Roadster.
