Can’t wait to buy your first all-electric plug-in car? Chances won’t come from Ford, GM, or even Honda or Nissan. BYD’s e6 (http://www.byd.com/e6.html ) now for consumer sale in China and set to hit the U.S. market the next year, is full-sized and “purely electric,” as the company puts it with family-orientation concept. Their Most Innovative status, as known so far, is well-earned, having developed the battery technology for their cars in-house. And quite a technology it is. The BYD-developed Fe battery, powering the e6 to a range of 186.4 miles on a single charge in urban conditions. This makes it one of the longest-range, pure EVs in the world. The projected top speed is 87mph. Given Los Angeles housing bureau will extend its contract on BYD’s hybrids (F3DM) for their good performance record, the manufacturer show its strength of Fe-battery tech, and this company wont be on the unknown list in North America for long.
