The Adelaide City Council in Australia is operating the first solar powered electric bus! The bus is recharged using 100% solar energy, and is a free everyday service for the people of Adelaide through the Council’s Adelaide Connector Bus service.

The bus is manufactured by New Zealand company Designline International. With no internal combustion engine, the vehicle is completely emission free.

The air-conditioned solar electric bus can carry up to 42 passengers, with 25 standard seats, two seats especially designed for disabled passengers, and room for 15 standing passengers.

The bus has a range of 200km, more than enough to connect all stations within the city.

Is it the future of bus transportation?
