So I picked up a 1993 RX-7 a few months ago and originally I was going to be another rotary engine for the car, but if anyone is familiar with the Wankel engines and turbo applications they have a tendency to detonate, usually destroying most of the engine and costing a couple of thousand to rebuild it. So I got to thinking this week while I was at training for work, death by power point gives you a lot of time to think about things LOL. I was thinking about using an electric engine in this project. Now previously I used to own another RX-7 which was sold in 2009 that made 519 Rear Wheel HorsePower (RWHP) and ran 10.40's in the 1/4 mile, but I was still able to drive it pretty much every day. So to get to my point, would it even be possible to use an electric motor to even produce close to those numbers mentioned above. Or is this something that would take hundreds of thousands of dollars to do? Please feel free to offer advice, because I've just started looking and I'm completely new to this electric motor idea, and I could use some help. Thank You! |
