The best method to reduce power consumption is to reduce the use of fan all products which uses electric motors. This are the things that really drinks electricity. If you switch of the refrigerator for 3-4 hours during the day this is going to save a big amount of power. A/C also increases power consumption. Switch to CFL /LED bulbs for better efficiency. I have conducted a survey in corporate environment. There a lot of power is wasted by peoples not turning of the computer while leaving the office.
