Hello Prius and Civic owners out there,
We would love to hear your every-day experiences with your hybrid cars. How do they compare to a regular car? Just the same or what do you have to look for when thinking of buying one?
What are the service costs, higher than for a regular petrol/diesel car?
Would you buy one again?
Lots of questions to be answered. We look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Stefan,
The forum registration requires 6 characters and david has only 5
I am not a Prius or Civic owner, but an Insight owner: I have 2.
The 1st has 250.000km and is delegated to "reserve" (battery losing capacity)
The 2nd has 125.000km.
I get an average of 3.8 Litre/100km in summer and approx 4.1 in Winter.
I travel (motorway) at 120-130kmh. Motorway represents 80% of my kilometerage.
Apart from a lambda-senor approx every 120.000km, both cars have needed NO REPAIRS. (good that I am not superstitious)
Regards,
david

Hi dee hoh David and welcome to the forums!
Completely forgot the Insight! Please accept my apologies...
I am not sure where you are from, but because you use km and litres, I assume you are from Europe.
How did you get your Insight? I quickly went to the Honda site and they sell it in Europe as 'Civic'. Did you import it yourself from the States?
Cheers,
Stefan

Huhu Stefan!
I see I need to bring your info-status up to date...
- about me: I am a Brit but live in Germany (for 30 years (I could have converted the units, but I was too lazy)
- about the Insight: in 2000 Honda set 140 Insights into the German Honda-dealer network, with the object of investigating customer acceptance. At the price of DM 34.000, none were sold! Honda decided to discontinue in Germany and the Insights appeared in mobile.de, i.e. were negotiable. In 2000 I got a new job with 120km travel per day and I could not get my Prelude VTI below 9L/100. Then I saw an Insight, followed it, and said "I MUST have one! And I got one for DM 28.000 (14.000 €). I bought the second one last year for 9.500 € so the theoretical lost value (at 20.000 km/year) would not have been too bad!
So I have a remaining life-expectation of 100.000km with #2 and around 2010 I must look for something new.... which brings us to the connection with the Loremo forum!
Due to the forum discussion, I have been completely converted to electric.. plugin, or serial plugin hybrid. At rhe moment a microturbine hybrid is my favourite, but not (yet) available.
So my choice at the moment would be an Aptera (if they will be imported to Europe, but I think not).
Cheers,
david
P.S Stefan, you forum-software works perfectly!! Why don't you develop and build low resistance automobiles? (with onboard Navi, PC & MP3) (engine and battery management also needs a high software engagement)
Just one thing; one cannot edit a smiley into the text; it appears at the end.
Maybe forget the battery management

Hello David,
Thanks for enlightening me on the Insight story. That was all new too me!
I've seen am Insight last summer in Oslo, but know only little about it.
I am originally from Switzerland and there no Insights are sold.
The first time I heard about it was when I started to get more interested in greener cars.
When I moved to the UK in 2006, I bought a Nissan Almera. Good car and reliable, but due to the move I was so absorbed with other things that I did not really look at alternatives to the petrol or diesel car. As I do not drive a lot (6000 miles), but need a car because public transport is not available to go to work, my favourite future car is all electric. We shall see...
This forum is my own initiative to bring people from all over the world together to discuss eco-friendly cars...I also hope that it also can be an information gouge for potential buyers.
Thanks for the feedback about the forum software. Really appreciate the comments!. Webdesign is my other hobby and I am working continously on improvements on the forum. Its not my own baby, but I follow its development closely and help debugging the software. At the moment I implement new versions almost monthly!
While we are at it...when you were notified about a new post by e-mail (if you subscribed to it), did the link in your e-mail work? Just curious...Mine didn't.
