The new Honda Insight is in sight icon_smile.gif

What are your thoughts?
Is it true that it is the most affordable and efficient hybrid on the market today?

Honda states: EPA Estimates: (City/Highway/Combined))40/43/41...and this is the equivalent to 5.8lt/100km for Europeans. Isn't this a bit high? Guess you can get more out of it by driving more economical?

I my memory serves me correct, the old Insight was even better...

Found more info on consumption. The above was indeed a bit high...In a car magazine it was advertised with 4.4 lt/100km. Not as good though as the new Prius which claims to use 3.9lt/100km only and also lower CO2 emissions.

While I am glad that Honda is still using the Insight name.

I would have been happier had they continued to use the Insight name as their top Green vehicle ... it should have been more green than the Insight-I.

Oh well... mass appeal has value I guess.

The Honda Insight has more face value as more appeal than any other hybrid cars though the Prius is cute for me... but still the Insight has more features and it's more environment friendly, no wonder the insight is the top hybrid for now...

Does it have more features? please explain.
I just visited the showroom to see the new Insight and for anyone my height 6'.2" it is not a practical four seater while the Prius is. If you have a couple of kids or carry shorter people this may be acceptable but I wouldn't purchase on this fault alone.
That withstanding the rest of the package looks good for £15.800 here in the UK when the Prius is higher priced. It is rumored Toyota may lower their price to match Honda and keep producing the last model while the new model will obviously be priced higher.
Having parted with my Insight 1 six months ago I would advise anyone with this original model car to hold onto it as long as possible. I fear they will never be duplicated, certainly not by a major company with all the benefits of quality and warranty.

Hi,

This is Prasad.

That’s no Honda Insight hybrid car. Where are the Ford T-Bird wheel skirts? You’re thinking of the original petrol-electric Honda Insight from the late 1990s. This is Insight hybrid Mk2. It’s still a petrol-electric hybrid but instead of two seats, this one’s got room for five. It’s meant to be a mainstream green car, a hybrid that will appeal to people who’ve never had a green car before

Honda's goal was to integrate the properties of the insight into the Honda Civic. Now that they have the civic hybrid, there really isn't a need for the insight. Personally I liked the insight, it was compact and stylish. It wasn't ugly like the prius.icon_smile.gif
