Last weekend I've joined the Zero Race http://zero-race.com/ for a day. It was actually the day before the official 'race' started. Electric vehicles of all kinds were invited to join the teams which are going around the world in 80 days in their vehicles. We were about 8 Twikes and one of them was a particularly interesting one. It was a 'Ralley Twike' which was tuned with a battery capacity of 60Ah, thicker rear tyres and an enforced rear axle. Due to the new axle the ground clearance was also improved. The Twike had LiPo battery packs onboard. All cells (1500+) can be monitored individually. The 60Ah push the Twike more than 300 miles with one charge. Although that performance is impressive, 300 miles range are not really needed. At least not in a Twike. But it shows what is possible. Shame on all traditional car makers that still have no EV in their portfolio... |
