The previous owner had put in a new battery about 4 years ago from Fine Mobile. It was dead on arrival and I trickle charged it and it seems to be at max and very balanced. I'm getting 20+ miles of range. One route I go regenerates so much I hardly loose anything. The peddles are key to providing extra boot from stops, going up hills. I can't see why people by the easy/inactive model. The only trouble is if you roll backward while in peddle mode it locks up and is hard to get out of being locked. Maybe this is just the old models.

Congratulations! How is it? Did you get what you expected or there are any surprises? How fit should one be to drive a Twike? Does it hurt after the ride? icon_biggrin.gif

no surprised. actually surprised how well its working being 12 years old.

no fitness level required. You don't have to peddle, however up big hills it can't break 15mph so this is really a neighborhood car. You can't really go over 35mph with an older one. (aside from downhill, which feels like you'd flip)

think of it as a super expensive bicycle where you are enclosed and sitting more comfortably.

I'm still hesitant on how far it'll go because of the big 950 meter hill I live on.

Also, with nicad, as you get to the bottom of your battery its pretty worthless because the power band drops so much so for me I need to peddle a lot with all the hills (which I don't mind).

Cars can't see you too well either because you're so slow. Recumbent bikes often get plowed

I can't say I'd recommend it to anyone, it takes a special person and special environment. It'd be great for self guided tours of places (over a segway) but because your knee and the steering arm can get caught up its too dangerous to let anyone drive.
