If one of the German-English speakers wouldn't mind being an intermediary for me and post this in the German-language forum, I'd sure appreciate it! M@ Was wondering if anyone had installed a Rohloff 14 hub or a Schlumpf Mountain drive in their older Twike. If anyone has video of how the new Twike gearing works, or if they're installing something with more gears than the Sachs Pentasport 5-gear internal hub (Sachs is now part of SRAM, and the Pentsport is now known as the P5). Wondering specifically about the ratcheting/clicking sound on the older Twikes and what the work-around was for that (it's caused by the 'pin' dropping into the wheel so that when you back-pedal you apply the hydraulic brakes). Fallbrook Technologies in the USA that is making a continuously variable gear system (the Nuvinci) that doesn't quite have the percentage of range coverage that the Rohloff 14 has, but then it is US$500 and not US$1600 and has infinate in-between gears. Has anyone ever replaced the molded plastic seats with a more recumbent-style web mesh fabric? Commute suck? Twike it; You'll like it!

The other Twike forum is primarily German-speaking, so I didn't want to post in English as not to offend. Commute suck? Twike it; You'll like it!

Alrite, here I am again After checking in the old Twike Forum which has postings from several years in the past, I believe ther is no Twike with modified gearing system. The issue has been discussed though. It looks like a rather difficult modification, although I do not know exactly how the gearing works resp. I haven't been looking at the assembly in detail yet. Pedaling is designed for speeds from 20km/h to 90 km/h resp. 12 mph to 55mph. For the problem of the clicking/ratcheting no specific solution exists. It might help to reduce the chain slack, but to much of it has also have negative effects. There have been several attempts to install diffrent seats. Even regular car seats have made their way into the Twike! As long as they can be fitted into it, you might want to give it a try. But it looks like most people stick to the original version since it is a lightweight and relatively comfortable solution. Do you have a specific type of seat or a brand in mind?
