The TWIKE manufacturer FineMobile Gmbh is taking orders for the new LION Twike and has updated its homepage with technical details (german only).

With the new Lithium-Ion battery pack a new milestone in the TWIKE history has been reached. The new battery is promising: At a lighter weight it offers more range and easier handling characteristics. The tests with the new battery pack, which started in 2006, have shown very good results so far. The key to a long battery life is to recharge at reduced charging capacity, at which the battery is recharged to 90% of its full capacity. To achieve a full charge, a second mode can be set, which recharges at full capacity for maximum range.

The LION battery block consists of 392 single cells and has operates at a nominal voltage of 353V and at capacity of 4Ah. To achieve a range of 150km, 5 battery blocks are necessary, providing a total of 20Ah.

The maximum discharge of the cells is 2A (2C) and is the base for a long battery life and increases the number of charging cycles.

Hi there,

The graph needs an explanation, as it refers to "4 and 10 A" not "4 and 10 C":

On their Website FineMobile defines 1 A in the graph as 1 C. This means, the graph shows the battery behaviour with 4 c and 10 C discharge.

As FineMobile was able to limit the "discharge per battery-cell" in the TWIKE to 2 C, they expect a much longer battery life than the graph already shows at 4 C.

Cheers
