How is the Tiwke handling in cold and snowy condition ? I live in Quebec, Canada and we get lots of cold and snow during the winter season. Is there winter tires available for the Twike ? In Quebec, there is a law forcing us to have winter tires on our car during the winter season.

Hi, it handles snowy (even icy) conditions very well and better than the average car. One reason is the low weight. Once the vehicle starts to slip it recovers quicker than a car weighing 2000lbs. Due to the linear and controlled acceleration of the wheels, tires do not slip as easy, similar to a traction control system. So when going up a steep and snowy road, most cars are stuck halfway up while the Twike keeps going with cruise control...
When decelerating the use of regenerative braking ensures that wheels to not lock and therefore directional control can be maintained, similar to a anti-wheel locking system (ABS). The only time driving becomes a problem is when the snow is not compacted and the wheels sink in. Not good either are chunks of ice lying on the road as they can damage the under-body of the Twike.

Last year Germany introduced a law that requires all vehicles to have winter tyres when driving on roads with ice, snow slush...So the question came up to what extent this would apply to the TWIKE. Since the law did not specify the Tyre classification and labeling any tyre with winter capabilities would be fine, e.g. tyres that carry the M&S logo or carry the sign or word 'winter', '*' etc. would be approved. How Canada would handle this case I am not sure but I would think it is not a problem. I could as well be that the is simply no regulation at all for this case, e.g. if a Twike is registered as motorcycle which generally do not need winter tyres...

If you get stopped by the police, it's mostly because they are just curious what kind of vehicle you drive. So they generally leave you in peace as long as your vehicle looks roadworthy.
