While on a vacation covering most countries in Europe, our journey took us via Germany and we decided to visit the TWIKE manufacuturer FineMobile GmbH in Rosenthal. We had a warm welcome by Holger Tausch, Production Manager, which offered us a cup of coffee befoer we started the tour through the facilities. the reason for our visit is simple: We are TWIKE enthusiasts since it was presented to the public. Unfortunately we can not call a TWIKe our own yet, but we just wamted to see once where the TWIKEs come from and what the prodction facilities look like.
The production is set up in a passive house in a warm and welcoming atmosphere thanks to the big front windows. A big part of the interior is used for storing the spare parts. Currently 12 employees are working for FineMobile GmbH. Besides looking at the production facilties we were of course also interested in the new Li-Ion TWIKE battery pack. The new Lion TWIKE will be unchanged on the outside. On the inside it will probably be noticable that there are no more fans needed for cooling the battery packs. The batteries will offer more range at a lighter weight and it is possible to put in up to 5 battery packs which will make it possible to travel 100miles at a good speed. The new Lion TWIKE willl be available for sale in 2008 and its gonna be interesting to see how the new technology performs in the future. Before we left, we took some pictures of the Lion Twike and then spent the rest of the day dreaming about our own TWIKE.
