I know this has been discussed here before, but I can't find the old thread. AutoBlogGreen.com has some well-informed speculation regarding the private deal that Daimler and Tesla Motors have made. http://tinyurl.com/5u75kj I think it's entirely possible Tesla might supply battery packs to Daimler. It's true that Tesla is in very slow production at the moment, but the bottleneck is their new drive train-- the larger motor and more robust power management system needed to replace and eliminate the faulty transmission. They may very well *now* have the capacity to produce an appreciable volume of battery packs, altho they didn't when they canceled their deal with Th!nk. Big car makers like Daimler are certainly interested to learn more about battery packs than years ago and I would be surprised if they are making a deal with Tesla. Tesla in return would profit from a extensive distribution network. Who knows one day we will see a Roadster in a Mercedes showroom... I have my doubts though that this will help Tesla in the long term, unless Daimler would go the path to become a truly environmentally concerned car maker. And also Tesla still has to prove their claim to be in favour for the environment. The Tesla Roadster is mainly a toy for the wealthy people to polish their image. What we need now is an electric car for people like you and me. Hopefully their future models will prove to be just that. One thing we have to give TM credit for is the fact that besides the technical achievements they were able to raise public awareness for EVs and proved that an EV doesn't necessarily need to look ugly.  ecocarforum.com - Green Car Network

"an EV doesn't necessarily need to look ugly" Just to be clear, I'm not saying that you're saying a Twike looks ugly, but on more than one online group I've seen the Twike called ugly. The students just got back in town at the University of Illinois, and while I was driving through campus with the top down on my way home, heard the following comments as I cruised by: "Awww, that's so cute" (girl) "Man, that's tight!" (guy) M@ Commute suck? Twike it; You'll like it!
