EV's are the perfect solution to our polluted cities. On this probably most of us agree.
But how do we recharge them while they are parked? How do people recharge their EV who do not have a private garage resp. need to park the car next to the sidewalk?

While public parking areas probably will have charging stations installed in the future, the issue is a bit more complicated elsewhere. Recharging points also need to be compatible to other cities/counties in the same area so that you are able to use it there.

How can this be done? I've recently seen a good example in Paris. The city introduced a system where people can get a bicycle from a designated parking point. You can then freely drive around and return it to any other point in the city. The parking points consist of a row of parking stands where you can dock your bicycle to a pole. To get your bike, you need a member card. This card is used to unlock the bike from the stand.

A similar approach is possible regarding EV charging points. The city could upgrade certain parking areas with charging points...Or even better: the left (or right side) of the road parking is reserved for EV's.

Any other ideas?

There is a list of charging stations in the USA at.

http://www.eaaev.org/eaaevcharging.html for most of California

If you have a ACPROPULSION eBox and T-Zero they can plug into any RV outlet in the USA. Check out the KOA campgrounds. It's funny that RVs get low mpg but could help EVs whith charging all over the US.
