Driving a 3-wheeler in the US/Can

Can this be considered true for all three-wheelers in the US? As far as I know, the Aptera Typ-1 (Prototype EV) can be driven without motorcycle licence in California. What about the Twike? It should be no big deal since you could take the test in a Twike. The hardeat part is getting a Twike and at a reasonable cost. I has a NiMH one on order and it went from about 20K to over 28K by the time the order was ready to ship. And they wanted me to pay even more to have it shipped, sorry but that would be way too much so I cancelled. They kept my $500 down payment. They still don't have US DOT approval and there are none around I have ever seen.

I'd be more than happy to give you a ride in a Twike There's also a list on here of folks in the US that own Twikes. The specific rules and regulations vary state-by-state in the US. It pays to be knowledgeable about the rules in your state. My state (Illinois) has very poor state laws regarding motorcycles -- there is no mandatory helmet law, and there are no laws regarding not putting children on motorcyles. What this means to me is that I don't have to wear a helmet in the Twike (good) and that I can put my 6 and 1.5 year old in the Twike without a car seat. It's stupid not to have these laws, however it does work in my favor. Several states have passed laws to eliminate the need for a motorcycle license/helmet for vehicles like the Twike (Vermont).
