Just found this site through a link from the Honda Insight website...I have owned and run a 2000 yr Insight for five years now...no problems except the PCV valve has to be cleaned with WD40 occasionally (twice in five years)..Car has a life time mpg average of 75 and I regularly get well over a hundred mpgs with tank averages of 83 mpg..This is Imperial gallons.
I also own a mini city el EV from Germany but have not had the time to register it for the road yet so it is in storage.Must get this done as it will make a perfect urban run-a-round where the Insight is not at its best for economy.
However my other half thinks I should sell it (probably cause its a single seater + child)so watch this space??

Hello insight and welcome to the Green Car Network Community!
Its great to have someone knowledgeable here who knows the Insight inside out. I remain hopeful that Honda will come up with a replacement for the Insight soon. A bit more competition for the Prius would be good for everyone.
Cheers,

Hello ecocarforum. I found your site while looking for alternatives to the $4 a gallon circus. I've always believed that that best things come out of adversity and now that so many people are having their lives disrupted because of oil and the greed that surrounds it, good things will happen. This forum is a good example what needs to happen. People getting together, exchanging ideas, and visualizing the good that can come from the mess we're in. Thank you for what you're doing, I'm glad to be a small part of it.

Hi there...great to have you onboard smithoffred and welcome in our growing community. And thanks for your encouraging words, this is the fuel I need to keep the Green Car Network going!
Being part of the solution is indeed a good feeling. ecocarforum.com might not be the solution to the mess we're in, but offers a platform to exchange ideas, hopes etc. and the combined knowledge of all community members is a powerful information resource for those who want to know more about greener cars and plan to trade-in their inefficient vehicle.
Cheers, ecoadmin Stefan

I found your site will searching for electric cars (or actually any alternative to oil).
Actually I started to follow a bit this area a good year ago, but only found this forum quit recently.
For me, I would like to get to know the different alternative powered cars, since this is the way to go in the future. Oil is becoming very expensive (€1,6 in Belgium per liter - about $ 9,6 a US gallon) and the environment is not feeling too good with all that oil.
Personally I believe the high oil prices are - in a way - good, since it will trigger the creativity to find acceptable alternatives to oil.
An it will - hopefully - make us consumers think about our own mobility. Like do we really have to travel to the other side of the world to go on vacation ?

Hello macHVD! Great to hear that our community site can now also be seen on Google or other search engines....I hope you find the site useful and interesting. The more people join and share their thoughts and ideas, the more knowledge comes together.
I see the high oil price also as a chance to move to reduce our dependancy on it, on the other hand it creates the risk that we overpromote other energy sources/carriers which seem a lot greener at first but turn out to be as bad as oil in regard to the environment.
Improving our efficiency and lowering consumption (traveling to the other end of the world...) is as important as switching to other sources.
Once again, welcome to our forums.
