Honda announced to expand its production of hybrid cars recently, but considers fuel cell vehicles to be the cars of the future. Source Honda wants to launch its new hybrid on Earth Day, April 22nd. Honda is expecting a strong demand for a lower cost, five door hybrid vehicle and the new Honda Hybrid is the answer to it, an executive said. I must say I am somewhat dissapointed by this announcement. Honda is expecting a strong demand? for a lower cost, fuel efficient vehicle? You don't need to have studied rocket science to find this one out! The demand is already here! Sorry Honda, but this time Toyota was ahead of the game. It was a big mistake to stop production of the Insight. 1. Demand for a lower cost vehicle always exists. 2. Fuel efficiency is always related to lower costs. At present times more than in the past, but it always was. And please do not launch it on Earth Day. I fully support more efficient cars and I am glad Honda has a hybrid available, but launching it on Earth Day? Sounds like 'Greenwash' to me. Well, guess some marketing guru knows its business well. Not only sex sells, launching a car on Earth Day too! ecocarforum.com - Green Car Network
